Given a swing of 8.2% Labour to Liberal Democrat,  and a
turnout of 35,615 (56%)Chris; campaign took the Liberal Democrats from  3rd place to 2nd place,  with 7,381 votes (21%).

Trafalgar by-election, Greenwich. 1999

Eltham-South Council elections, Greenwich. (lost by 50 votes)

The people of Greenwich, and the world heritage buildings, are today remains even more blighted than ever by ever constant lines of traffic, and vehicular pollution.  Chris believes that the only long term solution to this is a nationally-approved road scheme to close off the town centre to through traffic.

Oher options to be considered by Transport for London:

• Re-installing a tram from Woolwich to the Dome, Grenwich town Centre and Kingsway.
• Adapting some buses, (particularly Bus 108 which goes through the Blackwall tunnel to carry bicycles on them (like in Vancouver Canada, and in New Zealand);
• Adapting the Docklands Light Railway (rear carriage) to tale  bicycles inside
• Design CrossRail trains and stations to take bicycles on them at all times – i.e design  a system for the 21st century, rather than the 20th century.

Implementation elsewhere of the energy efficiencies, achieved in the initial Greenwich Millennium village.
